We helped Tympana give researchers the gift of ML.
Technical know-how definitely isn’t an issue for the data science experts at DataCicada. Product ideas are in their wheelhouse too — manifesting in a Department of Energy SBIR grant to craft a machine-learning-backed annotation tool. Envy Labs added expertise in interface, experience, and devops to help bring everything together.
Tympana pairs DataCicada’s Python-driven model with a researcher-friendly UI for notating biological sequences, charts, and images. The “learning” part adds to the fun: Suggested annotations eventually take on the heavy lifting, and can finish a given dataset after meeting a relative level of confidence.

Platform Extension
DataCicada was awarded a new Phase 1 SBIR from the Department of Energy to further develop their machine learning model and interface (with Envy’s help). More to come!
